Compost is a scriptable, node-based, image processing system. It is free & open source.

Compost provides a quick & easy solution for most image processing tasks including making slap-comps, generating scaled proxies, color manipulation and batch converting frames. The simple scripting language for building graphs and rendering output is based on Lua and is designed to fit easily into any visual effects pipeline. The simple API enables developers to write image processing filters without having to deal with the normal hassles like memory management and file formats. That makes it great for prototyping filters or just learning image processing.
